The Tuareg are mostly nomadic people living in the Sahara desert, mainly in Northern Mali near Timbuktu and Kidal.
They live in small tribes of 30 to 100 family members and raise camels, goats, cattle, and chickens. Both men and women wear these scarves to protect themselves from the sun and sand while traveling through the desert.
The scarves are made from very soft, hand-woven cotton.
Known for their pride, fighting skills, and artwork, the Tuareg are now facing urbanization and resettlement.
This scarf, handmade and dyed in Southern Morocco, features a stunning sky blue color with rich blue dyed ends that are traditionally left unfinished.
